Booker's pros and cons, according to VCS
Joe Curley lists the factors Booker will consider
By Malamute, 4 February 2002

Sometime between now and Wednesday, Lorenzo Booker, Ventura high school, will sit down with his cousin and list the pros and cons concerning each school he is considering, the final tally of which should enable him to choose among Florida State, Washington, USC, or Notre Dame.

We'll all know the school of his choice on Wednesday, when Booker announces his decision on ESPN SportsCenter (6 PM, EST). The proceedings will be held at the Casa Sirena Hotel in Oxnard, California.

The following table was taken from the Ventura County Star; it is part of an article titled, "Keeping them in suspense," by Joe Curley, 3 February 2002. Curley has given us some of the factors that Booker must consider.

School Pros Cons
Florida State "Perfect football program," unparalleled recent success; coaching staff; excellent OL; big fan of Seminoles and coach Bobby Bowden. Distance, doubts about being able to fit in socially, academics not as strong as ND and USC, "a total different way of living."
Washington Loves Rick Neuheisel; one-back offensive system; only one returning significant RB; sells out every game; excellent OL quality and depth; two All-Pac-10 WRs return. Weather, distance from home, RB coach recently left for Iowa State.
USC Close to home; impressive offensive and defensive coaching staff; one-back offensive system; familiarity with program and players like Keary Colbert, Bobby Otani and Jake Rogers; Annenberg School of Communication. Question about OL quality and depth; three senior RBs returning, other schools sell out every game, could be too close to home.
Notre Dame Excellent academics, perfect football atmosphere, sellouts; national TV every week; would join teammate James Bonelli, an hour away from family in Chicago; coaching staff, chance to play for a black head coach. Weather, distance, "not my choice socially," must stay in dorms all four years.
