Casey's golfing maxims
and quips
These
maxims and one-liners are for both men and women.
During play, never:
-
Give anyone a golf lesson;
-
Argue the rules;
-
Spit, smoke or curse;
-
Use a cell phone, unless it's an emergency;
-
Brag about a shot or a putt;
-
Take yourself seriously.
-
Take rollovers, Mulligans or gimmes.
During play, always:
-
After praise, say "thanks"--nothing more, nothing less.
-
Apologize after hitting into someone.
Remember to:
-
Practice, practice, practice;
-
Complete your back swing, keep your eye on the ball, and follow through;
-
Think: timing, tempo and rhythm.
Quips:
-
You can't teach an old ball new tricks.
-
The woods are full of long hitters.
-
Always concede the fourth putt.
-
"You can talk to a fade, but a hook won't listen," (LT).
-
Never up, never in.
-
"USA," You're still away. Or "it's still your turn."
-
It was an all around good putt. (After a 360-holed putt).
On the lip, the next a yip.
